Inclusion of waste from Terrassa industries in the value chain of companies
The Terrassa Fact Sheet, a summary of the project on change management in the value chain of waste from companies in Terrassa (Barcelona), is now available.
The objective of this project has been to promote the use of waste generated by industries in the territory to generate sustainable economic development, one of the opportunities identified in the Terrassa Circular Economy Strategic Plan carried out in 2023.
Waste is analyzed from paper and cardboard, organic materials, wood, textiles, and some plastics (polypropylene, film, and expanded polystyrene), throughout the entire value chain of the materials. The actors who could benefit from the new business opportunities identified are identified, both through the use of waste (saving on management costs) and in the use of recycled materials in their products.
It has been possible to estimate with Syner the amount of materials with the potential for valorization that are lost mixed in the trivial fraction of industries, as well as the types of companies that could be generating them.
Recycled products have been proposed where materials that normally end up in the landfill could be used.
Mapping surplus resources and identifying opportunities for innovation and business development with them is a basic first step for both private and public investment policies.
