The month of April culminates an 8-month collaborative process that has allowed us to complete, together with the technical team of the environment area of the Diputación de Girona, the Drafting of the Energy Transition Plan for the regions of Girona (2030). This document provides a clear roadmap to align and coordinate the work of the different agents in the territory, focusing efforts on concrete actions that allow achieving the emission reduction targets for 2030.
This transition is a complex process that involves the substitution of fossil fuels for renewables, and the change from a centralized (with large generation plants) and unidirectional model, to a distributed model in which the deployment of resources occurs at different levels and the energy flows are bidirectional.
The process of development and preparation of the strategic plan was carried out in 8 thematic work sessions. These sessions provided the appropriate environment to carry out an intense work of prospecting the environment, contrasting with more than 90 experts on administration and governance, communication, education, industries and businesses of the main economic activities of the region, as well as experts in energy management and renewable energy projects, such as biomass, biogas, photovoltaics, and energy communities.
The main actions that were prioritized during the work sessions and that contribute to the elaboration of the plan are:
