Business Office to promote the energy transition in Manresa’s industrial estates – OFIMATER

Project description

“Manresa Il·lumina” is the first energy community created among companies in an industrial estate, specifically the Bufalvent industrial estate in Manresa. Thanks to the ICAEN programme, services have been created and implemented to promote the growth and consolidation of this community and support the energy transition of Manresa’s industry.

Four lines of action:

• Expand renewable energy generation.
• Expand the energy community with new members and participants.
• Increase energy efficiency in the industries involved.
• Promote sustainable mobility as a balancing vector for photovoltaic generation.

Main results

Preliminary results:

• Increase in the number of members of the Manresa Il·lumina energy community to 48 partners.
• Energy community extended to all industrial estates in Manresa.
• 1 MWp of PV panels installed on 10 rooftops in the Bufalvent industrial estate.
• 24 companies interested in energy services consultancy.
• More than 200 attendees at training events.
• Design of a phase 2 photovoltaic project with up to 2 MW of capacity.

Highlights

This initiative confirms that:

• There is a need for a support service to help companies on their path towards renewable energy, providing the confidence required to make investments through data, figures and affordable business model proposals.  
• Identifying alternative financing channels and making them available to companies in a personalised way, while helping them access these opportunities, is highly valuable.
• “Manresa Il·lumina” has received several awards and has become an international success story, attracting industrial tourism to the area.
• “Manresa Il·lumina” is a project identified within the “Manresa en Simbiosis” territorial development initiative, a pilot industrial symbiosis project in Catalonia launched in 2015.
